Faith in Uncertainty: Trusting God’s Promises
As Christians, we are called to trust in God’s promises and faithfulness, even when we don’t understand what’s happening in our lives. This can be especially challenging for homeschool families, who face unique challenges and uncertainties. However, by relying on God and His Word, we can find peace and assurance even in the midst of difficult times. Let’s explore how we can trust in God’s promises and faithfulness, and why doing so is so important for our spiritual growth and well-being.
Acknowledge God is in Control
The first step in trusting in God’s promises and faithfulness is to acknowledge that He is in control. As homeschool parents, we often take on a lot of responsibility for our children’s education and upbringing. We may feel overwhelmed by the weight of this responsibility, especially when we encounter difficulties or setbacks. However, it is important to remember that ultimately, God is the one who is in control. He has a plan for our lives and for our children’s lives, and His plans are good (Jeremiah 29:11). When we trust in God’s sovereignty, we can let go of our fears and anxieties and place our faith in Him.
Pray and Read the Bible
Another key aspect of trusting in God’s promises and faithfulness is to seek Him through prayer and Scripture. When we face difficult circumstances, it can be easy to feel isolated and alone. However, God promises that He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). By spending time in prayer and reading the Bible, we can draw closer to God and experience His presence and peace. As we meditate on His Word, we can find comfort and guidance for the challenges we face.
One example of a promise we can cling to in difficult times is found in Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This passage reminds us that we can bring our worries and concerns to God, and He will give us peace that surpasses our understanding. By trusting in God’s promises and bringing our requests to Him, we can experience His faithfulness and provision.
Look to the Examples of Faithful Believers
A third way we can trust in God’s promises and faithfulness is by looking to the examples of faithful believers who have gone before us. Hebrews 11 is often referred to as the “Faith Chapter” of the Bible, because it describes the faith of many of God’s servants throughout history. From Abel to Abraham to Moses and beyond, these individuals trusted in God’s promises even when they didn’t understand what was happening in their lives. They endured suffering, persecution, and hardship; but they did so with the knowledge that God was with them and that His plans were good. By studying these examples of faith, we can be encouraged and inspired to trust in God’s promises and faithfulness in our own lives.
Trusting in God’s promises and faithfulness is a crucial part of our spiritual journey as homeschool families. By acknowledging God’s sovereignty, seeking Him through prayer and Scripture, and looking to the examples of faithful believers, we can find peace and assurance even in the midst of difficult times. As we trust in God’s promises, we can rest in the knowledge that He is with us and that His plans for our lives are good!
All for our King’s glory,
