Book Review: Your Marriage God’s Way

Today I’d like to share a book with you that I found to be a great blessing to me on the topic of Christian marriage. It was written by my friend, Scott LaPierre – Christian husband, father, pastor, author, and conference speaker. The title of this book – Your Marriage God’s Way – should give you a pretty good idea of Mr. LaPierre’s mindset. He has done an amazing job showing the reader how God’s plan for marriage – not man’s “wisdom” on the subject – will help us enjoy a relationship that is fulfilling for both man and wife, for it is one of the greatest blessings the Lord has given us this side of heaven.

The arrangement of the book follows a very practical and logical order. The very first chapter lays the groundwork by establishing the fact that the way our marriage is going – good or bad – is actually a picture of our relationship with Christ. This is helpful because it avoids the common pitfall of merely trying to fix the “problems” between us and our spouse, instead of dealing with the root issue of why those “problems” are arising in the first place.

I love how the Word of God is so prevalent throughout this entire book, keeping the reader constantly in remembrance of the fact that a blessed marriage must be built God’s way – with Christ as its foundation, and not the selfish desires or the false “love” that the world promotes and celebrates. The bar is set high, but Mr. LaPierre does well in reminding the reader that our Lord will give us grace and strength to weather the storms and build a fulfilling marriage relationship – His way!

This is a much-needed resource in today’s culture that strives so hard to deprecate and destroy the marriage relationship. I wish that every Christian husband and wife would read and benefit from this book, as well as every single person who is seeking to enter into marriage on a strong foundation.
