As Christians, we know that Sunday is the day of the Lord, and it’s a special day that we dedicate to rest and worship. Especially for families, Sunday is an opportunity to pause from busy schedules and spend quality time with family, with friends, and most importantly, with God. Resting and worshiping the Lord on Sunday is not only a commandment from Him, but it also has several benefits for our well-being. Let’s discuss some of the benefits of Sunday rest and worship for our families.
It renews our strength
Sunday is a day of rest, and it’s a perfect opportunity to recharge our batteries. We all know how family life can be demanding, both physically and emotionally. Parents, in particular, need a break; and what better way to do that than to rest in the Lord? As Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” When we rest in the Lord, we allow Him to renew our strength, and we can face the new week with renewed vigor.
It strengthens our relationship with God
Worshiping the Lord on Sunday is not just a formality, but it’s an opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. Families have a unique opportunity to worship the Lord together and encourage one another in the faith. When we come together to worship, we are reminded of God’s love for us, and we can experience His presence in a powerful way. We can also teach our children about the importance of worship and how it can benefit their spiritual lives.
It reminds us of our priorities
Sunday is a day to refocus our priorities and remember what is truly important in our lives. When we take a break from our busy schedules, we can reflect on our relationship with the Lord, our family, and our community. We can evaluate our lives and see if we are living in accordance with God’s will. As Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” When we take time to reflect, we can gain wisdom, and we can make better decisions in our daily lives.
It provides an opportunity for fellowship
Homeschool families, in particular, sometimes feel isolated; it can sometimes be challenging to find like-minded people who share our faith. Sunday is a day to come together and fellowship with other believers. When we do so, we can encourage each other, pray for each other, and share our experiences. We can also learn from each other and grow in our faith.
Resting and worshiping the Lord on Sunday is not only a commandment from God, but it also has several benefits for our well-being. Families have a special opportunity to rest and worship together on this day every week, and to deepen our relationship with the Lord and with each other. We can also reflect on our priorities, fellowship with other believers, and gain wisdom. As we take time to rest and worship, we can be renewed in our strength, and we can face the new week with a renewed sense of purpose. Let’s make Sunday a day that is dedicated to the Lord!
All for our King’s glory,
Christian
